Sydney Dufka Forchielli is a visual storyteller and costume designer. Sydney believes art is a universal form of communication that is vital to humanity. Her work honors the labor of our ancestors. The visible, the invisible, the inherited, the improvised. She creates to document what people make when no one is watching. The mending, the comforting, the planning, the holding, the small rituals that build the architecture of daily life.
Her art insists that domestic work is not soft, it is structural. It is intelligence in motion. It is legacy disguised as routine.
In addition to theatrical design Sydney accomplished fine artist, craftsman & seamstress.
Sydney is currently a Costume Design candidate in the Stage Design Program at Northwestern University.
Born in Colorado and raised on the Oregon Coast, Sydney has spent time in New York City, San Francisco, Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania and is based in Chicago.
Sydney holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Costume Design from The Theatre School at DePaul University where she studied under Nan Cibula-Jenkins.
